  • Executive Officer1 position

    JOB PURPOSE

    The role holder will be involved in research, analysis and feasibility studies to meet the needs of the business and projects assigned.  Expected to build relationships with government officials and community/business stakeholders.

     

    KEY RESULT AREAS

    1. Schedules work on a day-to-day basis to enable daily targets are met, ensuring necessary resources are allocated to meet objectives.  
    2. Undertakes information gathering, research and analysis of data as requested to provide relevant advice and information.
    3. Performs feasibility studies including preparation of feasibility report to support managers in making recommendations to the project solutions. Plans, organises and prioritises own workloads such that resources are used effectively and work is completed within set deadlines. 
    4. Deals with external contacts to collect data and information where appropriate.
    5. Acquires sound knowledge and thorough understanding of concepts, frameworks, policies and related procedures to ensure preparedness to undertake role’s responsibilities. 
    6. Participates in specific projects, allocated by Management, within set terms of reference and defined processes.
    7. Develops own professional expertise through optimizing on the job and formal training opportunities and formal professional qualifications.
    8. Proactively manages and tracks projects ensuring timely progression through proper project scheduling, planning and execution.
    9. Identify potential challenges to the project and make appropriate suggestions to ensure that any issues and problems faced throughout the project is effectively managed and/or resolved.
    10. Exchanges ideas and information in a concise and logical way, where tact and basic politeness is required.
    11. Responsible for the quality and timeliness of the work produced.
    12. May hold responsibilities of higher level position from time to time.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

    The successful candidate should minimally possess the following:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Finance or any other similar fields   
    • Knowledge or skills in business acumen and/or financial analysis will be an added advantage
    • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication and strong presentation skills
    • A strong team player with excellent management, organizational, analytical, customer service skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision
    • Pro-active and resilient with very keen interest to support and promote positive growth of Brunei Darussalam’s economy
    • Good knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, spreadsheets and database computer software packages

  • Executive Officer, Legal1 position

    An exciting employment opportunity is available at the Brunei Economic Development Board for an aspiring enthusiastic junior lawyer seeking a dynamic and purposeful legal career with a view of being part of transactions at the forefront in advancing economic development in Brunei Darussalam.

    The successful candidate will:

    • primarily be performing corporate, and operational related administrative and legal activities;
    • be required to develop robust legal and industry knowledge as they relate to regional and global projects and infrastructure related transactions (primarily in project delivery);
    • be periodically assessed on suitability for transitioning into a legal role with a focus on engineering and construction transactions in the energy, industrial, and transport sectors; and
    • be given a generous remuneration package proportionately reflecting the expectations and demands required of the successful candidate

      

    1. Minimum Qualifications and Traits for the Successful Candidate

     The successful candidate should minimally possess the following:

    1. an undergraduate holding a Bachelor of Laws, or Juris Doctor in Law from a common law jurisdiction with a 2:2 equivalent grade or higher;
    2. must be independent with a motivated personality with an ability to regularly work beyond regular working hours (including weekends); and
    3. strong technical legal competency with a robust commercial acumen.

     

    1. Preferred Candidates

         Candidates with any or all of the following will be preferred:

    1. Completion of a legal practice course, barrister practice course or equivalent;
    2. Admitted as a legal practitioner in a common law jurisdiction;
    3. Experience in cross border transactions; and
    4. Experience in any of the following areas of law:
      • project and infrastructure (particularly delivery / construction);
      • energy and resources; and / or
      • business and company transactions
