High quality of life
 
Brunei offers a pleasantly high quality of life, ranking the highest in the Islamic World and the third in Asia according to the UNDP Human Development Index.
 
Political stability
 
Brunei has been led by a benevolent monarchy that can be traced back, in an unbroken line of succession, over 600 years to when the first Sultan was installed in 1363.
 
Strong oil and gas industry
 
Oil and gas have been the backbone of Brunei’s economy since their discovery in 1929. Today Brunei is the 3rd largest oil producer in ASEAN and the 4th largest producer of LNG in the world.
 
Well educated population
 
The people of Brunei Darussalam are well educated with an adult literacy rate of 94.9%, one of the highest in the world, making them an increasingly valuable resource.
 
Modern infrastructure
 
Under the current National Development Plan, Brunei Darussalam is targeting the further enhancement of its business infrastructure to better attract foreign direct investment.
 
Strategic location
 
Brunei Darussalam is situated in one of the most dynamic regions of the world, South East Asia. It is the “Hub of ASEAN”, located within two to three hours flying distance from all its ASEAN neighbours.
 
Beautiful natural environment
 
Brunei Darussalam has taken active steps to protect its outstanding biological diversity by committing 58% of its total land area for conservation under the WWF-supported ‘Green Heart of Borneo’ initiative.
 
Competitive investment incentives
 
Brunei Darussalam has one of the most liberal tax regimes in the region. Other than a 22% corporate income tax, from which prospective investors are exempted for up to 20 years, it has no taxes on personal income, sales, payroll, export, capital gains or manufacturing.
