BEDB Participats in China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning

Nanning, China, 28 October 2007

The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) is pleased to participate at the China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning, this year.
The BEDB extends a warm welcome to all visitors and delegates to its booth at the Brunei Darussalam National Pavilion.
Visitors will be able to get first hand information on investment opportunities in Brunei Darussalam.
The BEDB is a statutory body created by the Brunei government to develop new investment opportunities in Brunei. Although
Brunei is one of the richest countries in Asia, the Brunei government through the BEDB seeks to develop new industries beyond

the traditional oil and gas sector to create new employment and business opportunities for the people of the country.
As part of its current strategy, the BEDB will develop a world class industrial park at Sungai Liang and a container port and
supporting activities at Muara Island, close to the present port. To attract foreign investors, the BEDB will provide shared
infrastructure and facilitate competitive incentives and quick approvals for suitable projects.

The BEDB has successfully secured a US$ 400 million Methanol project at the Sungai Liang Industrial Park. It is presently
looking into a number of other industrial and petrochemical projects that could be located at the Park.
At Muara Island, the BEDB has started work to develop a deep sea container port. The BEDB will be calling for bids shortly
from international port operators that are interested to invest in and operate the container port. The BEDB also plans to develop an export processing zone and an industrial park at Muara Port to complement and support the operations of the container port.
